Situated to the north of the Catalan capital of Barcelona, Playa de Aro is a coastal town which has about 10,000 inhabitants throughout the year. It is a good size of settlement for both holidaymakers and people looking for a permanent place to reside. The municipality of Play de Aro lies on the Costa Brava, facing the Mediterranean Sea, about half an hour from the popular, bustling resort of Lloret de Mar.
