As its name suggests, Cabrera de Mar is a town that faces the Mediterranean Sea. It is situated just to the north of Barcelona on the wonderful Costa Maresme. In fact, the town centre is just a little way inland from the beach but the settlement has plenty of seafront properties as well as those which perch on its nearby hills. It is just over 25 miles to get to Cabrera de Mar which takes around half an hour. From central Barcelona, you can expect to get to the town in a little over 20 minutes. In addition, the coastal town is a five-minute drive from the urban centre of Mataró. For this reason, Cabrera de Mar is a popular place to live among local Catalans who commute to work as well as holidaymakers.
The town is quite historic despite a number of new residences which have been built in recent years. The settlement is perhaps best known for Castle Burriac which it lies at the foot of. However, there are also plenty of Roman archaeological remains in the area, too. With good public transport connections and a climate which sees virtually no frost, the town is popular with people seeking holiday homes as well as year-round places to live.
